Autonomous driving and AI: Germany’s path to the mobility of the future

In the pre-competitive lighthouse project “nxtAIM – Generative Methods for Perception, Prediction and Planning”, the automotive industry and the Jülich Supercomputing Center are working together for the first time in the field of autonomous and connected driving.

Together with the German automotive industry, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection, which is funding the project, wants to send out a strong signal for innovation in the field of autonomous and connected driving and the use of artificial intelligence. Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck, Mercedes-Benz CTO Markus Schäfer, Continental Automotive Technologies CTO Gilles Mabire, VDA Managing Director Dr. Marcus Bollig and the CEO of Forschungszentrum Jülich Prof. Dr. Astrid Lambrecht will discuss the opportunities of generative AI and the challenges to be overcome on the way to safe autonomous driving with the development directors of the major German automotive companies.
