nxtAIM in dialogue – currently OPEN PROJECT DAY & WINTER SCHOOL II
Open Project Day
On February 25, 2026, the nxtAIM project invites you to an event in Freiburg.
Using Generative Models for Automated Driving. Gain an overview of nxtAIM and look forward to engaging presentations, inspiring posters, and deep dives. Learn about the goals, challenges, and next steps of nxtAIM.
Using Generative Models for Automated Driving
With generative methods, a new class of AI approaches is coming into focus: instead of training functions directly from data, we model the data itself, creating the framework for versatile foundation models. In the nxtAIM project, we are working together on these enabling technologies for the mobility of tomorrow. We will showcase medium-scale models, present research on sensor data and abstract time series, and discuss how generative AI is advancing automated driving. Seize the opportunity to exchange ideas with nxtAIM experts from academia and industry.
Location: IMBIT, University of Freiburg, Germany
Format: In-person event, free of charge
Registration will start in 2026

Winter School II
On February 26 and 27, 2026, the project participants will meet for the internal event.
AI Innovations in the Network between Academia and Industry. The Winter School II is exclusively for project participants and offers space for dialogue, new impulses, and close networking within nxtAIM.
AI Innovations in the Network between Academia and Industry
The focus of the second Winter School is on professional exchange between academia and industry. Together, we will discuss the current state of research on generative AI for autonomous driving and review the latest nxtAIM results. The aim is to identify current challenges and needs from research and practice, and to explore solutions together.
Location: IMBIT, University of Freiburg, Germany
Format: In-person event, free of charge
Registration will start in 2026
Winter School I
nxtAIM project participants will meet at Forschungszentrum Jülich on 13-14 March 2025. An internal project event that gives us the opportunity to delve deeper into fundamental and innovative topics of Generative AI.
The school will feature lectures and workshops on basic, advanced, and practical topics in Generative AI from our academic and industry partners, as well as sessions about supercomputing and the necessary data loading, at Jülich. Its goal is to foster knowledge sharing and collaboration between project partners and to enable partners to use Jülich’s computing resources efficiently. The official language of the winter school is English.
